Jerry was a prince of a guy from the very beginning. He and I would sometimes walk to school together at Clinton, we only lived a block or so apart, he lived on about 29th east of Safeway and I was on 28th and Apple. We spent many many hours together on our bikes hunting with Bob Stark, camping, fishing, hitching car bumpers for a ride in the snow covered streets, examining guns and magazines about hunting and guns at Stark’s place and sharing our curiosity about girls. Many hours at “the Red Shield” Center and adventures with Wes White (another story) at the Y or sneaking into outdoor theatres. Jerry always had skills at all the things we did and always had a wisdom and maturity about him that drew everyone’s respect and admiration. I thought my drawings in drafting class were pretty good until I saw Jerry’s. Although we drifted apart over the years, I have more great memories of him than there is room for here. He and Joyce were perfectly matched and I know he was a great husband, father, mentor, teacher, companion, cheerleader, advisor, helper, biker, sportsman, super friend, loyal and true and always knew who he was in any situation which made him courageous too. Glad you are in God’s presence now, you are sorely missed back here, but thanks for the memories.

Jerry was a wonderful person. Always had a smile for everyone, a hug, and asked how you were doing. He will be so dearly missed.
