Esther L. Busboom “Mimi”, 85, of Lincoln passed away on December 21, 2018 after a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma cancer. Born April 9, 1933 to Rex and Esther R. (Huber) Niles in Lincoln, NE. Esther graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1951 and married Clarence W. Busboom on December 8, 1951. Clarence and Esther were happily married for 64 years.
Esther worked for many years for Lincoln Public Schools. Upon retirement, she worked for the University of Nebraska in Event Services for 17 years. She volunteered at Bryan East Hospital for 16 years. She was a permanent member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #3, continuous member of Easter Star StarCraft Chapter # 307 since June 1951, and she was an Avid Husker Fan!
She is survived by her daughter, Lorie (Victor) Gayed of Lincoln; grandchildren, Shelli (Ben) Reicks, Jenni (Logan) Russell, Nicole (Jason) Case, Jason (Kaylee) Gayed; 9 great grandchildren; a niece and nephew; her beloved cousin, Barbara (Jim) Brock; and many other family and loved ones. Preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; daughter, Diane (Busboom) Craigie, granddaughter, Melissa Stevens, great granddaughter, Asher Gayed, and her parents.
Celebration of Life service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 ‘O’ St.
Cremation/no visitation.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed towards the Carolyn Scott Rainbow House, 7825 Farnam Dr., Omaha, NE 68114 in memory of her great granddaughter Asher RaeAnn Gayed.
