Marie Elisabeth Backstrom

February 26, 1922 - March 10, 2018

Marie Elisabeth Backstrom, 96, of Lincoln, passed away March 10, 2018. Born February 26, 1922 in Wabash, NE to William and Martha (Luetchens) Vogt. After her high school graduation, Marie worked at the Bureau of Vital Statistics. After her marriage to Linnier and the birth of her children, she became a stay at home mom. Marie was a member of First Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and Bible School, Crounse Extension Club, Norden Club, and worked on the election board.

Family members include her daughter, Joyce (Paul) Hansen, Lincoln; son, Lee (Kay) Backstrom, Broomfield, CO; grandchildren, Scott (Frankie) Hansen, Kristi (Scott) Maslak, Lisa (Greg) Dean, Mark (Maura) Backstrom, Michelle (Rob) Delier; great-grandson, Landon Maslak. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Linnier; brothers, Bill Vogt and Lloyd Vogt; sister, Margaret Walkup.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday (3-16-18) First Lutheran Church, 1551 South 70th with Pastor Dan Warnes officiating. Prior interment will be at 9:30 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park, 6800 S. 14th St. Please meet at gate #2.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street.

Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church, 1550 S. 70th, Lincoln, NE 68506.
