Ross was born March 4, 1970, to Loran and Myrna Bartlett in Butte County, South Dakota. He graduated from Valentine Rural High School and later went on to receive his law enforcement certification from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center.
On February 14, 2004, Ross married Tina Davis. Ross and Tina both had a passion for serving their communities through volunteer fire departments in the communities they lived. They also loved to spend time together in Vegas.
Ross dedicated his career to law enforcement across Nebraska. He started his 30-year law enforcement career as a police officer with the Valentine Police Department. He went on to serve other agencies in that time to include: the Boone County Sheriff, Madison Police Department, the Madison County Sheriff, and Newman Grove Police Department. In 2017, he joined the Village of Ceresco Police Department and the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services as a criminal investigator.
Ross is survived by his wife Tina; their daughters Tiffany (Joe Yant) Dufek and her children Reece, Addy, Tanner, Declan, and Daxten; Crystal (Matt) Brehmer and her children Sawyer and Kendrix; his mother-in-law Bettie Maixner; and his friend Rowdy (Konni) Kluender.
Ross is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Ray Maixner, and grandparents Ross and Clara Butts.
Funeral service: 10:30 am Friday, April 19, 2024, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd, Lincoln. Service will be Livestreamed.
Visitation: Thursday, April 18, 2024, 5-7pm. Roper and Sons South Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive.
