Mary Ann Cates-Fultz, 71 of Lincoln, NE passed away August 29, 2026. She was born February 27, 1955, to the late Elbert and Jennie V. Cates. She was educated in the Lauderdale County School District and continued her education in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Mary Ann accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Halls, Tennessee. After the birth of her son, Anthony, Mary Ann moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. Mary later joined Christ Temple Mission Church, where she became a Deaconess and Vice President of the Christ Temple Board where she served faithfully until her passing.
Over the years, Mary Ann worked in various places, included the Lincoln Public School System, Clyde Malone Community Center, Lincoln Action Center, and Friendship Home. Through her work and dedication, she touched the lives of many people in her community.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parent, Elbert and Jennie V. Cates; her siblings, Charles Halliburton, Maggie Whirl, Robert Cates and Jennie Patricia Cates; her sons, Anthony Cates, Sr.; and one great grandchild.
She leaves to cherish in her memory her loving husband, Herbert Fultz, Jr.; her brother, Michael (Christina) Cates, of Lincoln, NE; her two sisters, Angela Hudson and Willie Mae (Jeff) Brantley, of Halls, TN; her brother-in-law, Michael (Linda) Fultz, of Lincoln, NE; one sister-in-law, Bertha Cates, of Halls, TN; her grandchildren, Dyamon Wilkinson, of Omaha, NE, Anthony (Jacqueline) Cates, Jr., Mari’anne Cates, Lillee Mae Cates, Sarah Walker, Eric Jones, Zaccheaus Jones and Esias Murry, all of Lincoln, NE; five great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary’s life was a testament of her faith, dedication and love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation will take place 9:00 am Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Christ Temple Mission Church, 500 N. 25th Street, Lincoln, NE.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Christ Temple Mission Church, 500 N. 25th Street, Lincoln, NE.
