Marion Pleskac

Marion Pleskac

Marion (Pohlmann) Wendt Pleskac passed away November 21, 2018 at The Monarch (Hospice) in Lincoln, NE. Marion was born April 24, 1933 to Arthur and Elda (Roebke) Pohlmann on the family farm in Seward County, Nebraska. Three years later her sister, Elaine, joined the family. They were raised on the farm. Marion was baptized as an infant at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Middle Creek) and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Seward, NE. She graduated from Seward High School in 1951.

On April 12, 1953 she married Donald L. Wendt of Staplehurst, NE at Immanuel Lutheran Church. During their marriage the couple welcomed Connie Lee, Denise Kay and Beth Ann to their family. The family resided in Lincoln, except for a brief move to Grand Island, NE. Marion spent most of her time raising her children with stints working at Russell Stover Candies, Ben Franklin and JC Penney. When the girls were all in school, she began her life career at State Farm Insurance at the West Central Reginal Office. She worked there for 26 years until her retirement in 1995. Don preceded her in death on May 18, 1988.

On June 9, 1990, she married Jim Pleskac in Lincoln, NE and then welcomed his children, Brian, Craig and Missy into her family. After Marion and Jim both retired, they especially enjoyed traveling and tried to spend several months each winter in south Texas.

A woman of great faith, Marion was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church. She participated in many bible studies at the church and always sat in her same seat in her same pew at the 8:00 a.m. Sunday service whenever she was in town.

One of Marion’s greatest accomplishments in life was how she persevered through many health challenges. She was the blessed recipient of a kidney in 2003 in a transplant at UNMC in Omaha.

Marion was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Wendt, and her parents and grandparents and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Pleskac of Lincoln, NE, daughters Connie (Bruce) Stock of Murdock, NE, Denise (Craig) Meyer of Lincoln, NE and Beth (Bruce) Forney of Alliance, NE, step-sons Brian Pleskac of Omaha, NE, Craig Pleskac of Lincoln NE and step-daughter Melissa (Steven) Whitlow of Lincoln, NE, sister Elaine Stamp of Denton, TX, brothers-in-law, Joe (Sue) Pleskac of Centuria, WI and Gary Pleskac of Richmond, VA and sister-in-law, Virginia Svoboda of Waterloo, IA. In addition, Marion is survived by the delights of her life, grandchildren, Spencer (Carissa) Stock, Lucas (Laura) Stock, Laura (Bill) Troshynski, Timothy (Traci) Pederson, Matthew (Lindsey) Pederson, Mallory (Sean) Larkin and Morgan (Devonte) White and great-grandchildren Autumn, Carter, Asher, Kate, Ben, June, Tatum, Emma, Rory, Fiona, Remi and Reece. She was looking forward to welcoming her 13th great grandchild in April 2019. Also surviving her are nephews Scott Stamp, Steve Stamp, Todd Wendt, Troy Kramer and nieces Kim Harris, Kelly Leech, Tracy Stoural, Tami Otjen and Nanette Beller. She also is survived by step-grandchildren Justin, Andrew, Kelsey, James and Spencer.

Visitation will be Monday, November 26th at Roper and Sons Funeral Home 4300 “O” St. from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Christian funeral service will be Tuesday, November 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church 4325 Sumner St. Lincoln, NE with burial following at Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, NE.

At Marion’s request, those attending the Funeral Service are asked to wear brightly colored clothing for her celebration.

Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church, The University of Nebraska Foundation *Kidney Transplant Patient and Family Experience Fund or Donor’s Choice.
