DeWayne L. Thorell

October 11, 1938 - April 17, 2024

DeWayne L. Thorell, 85, formerly of Ashland, NE, passed away on April 17, 2024, in Lincoln. DeWayne was born in Holdrege, NE, to Raymond and Ruth (Burklund) Thorell on October 11, 1938.

He spent his life as an Educator for many years including 25 in Ashland, 5 in Callaway and 2 in Huntley. He served in the US Army from 1956-1958.

Family members include his wife Alice of 63 years; son Corey (Ronilynn) Thorell of Belton, TX, daughter Lori Thorell of Bangkok, Thailand; 9 grandchildren; siblings Norma Mills, of Lincoln, NE, Rook Thorell of Loomis, NE, Elaine Westergren, of Omaha, NE, and Marlene McClean of Fremont, NE.

Preceded in death by his parents, son Todd Thorell, brothers Wendell and Don.

Memorial service to be held 11:00 a.m., Friday April 26, 2024, at the First Christian Church, 1702 Boyd Street, Ashland, NE 68003. Pastor Bob Schofield officiating.

DeWayne was one of my best friends for over 40 years. He and I shared many wonderful times together, and he helped me through some difficult times in my life. The family has my deepest sympathy and I will miss him tremendously.
