Kirk began his working career as a manager at Long John Silver’s in Lincoln and was transferred to Norfolk, NE where he met his wife Eileen Franzluebbers. They married in 1987 at which time he was transferred back to Lincoln where they made their home and start their family. Shortly after, he changed direction and began his drywalling career at Eliason & Knuth Drywall in Lincoln for many years and then became self-employed subcontracting for Pro Drywall. When neck surgery in 2004 ended his drywalling career, Kirk and Eileen moved to Waverly in 2005 with sons Kody and Mitchell. He began working for Matheson Tri-Gas (formerly Linweld) in Waverly, rolling gas cylinders and over the years moved up to filling them, analyzing them and most recently back to being a precision fill technician for their industrial gas mixes. He thoroughly enjoyed his job and loved explaining what he did.
Kirk’s interests over the years ranged from camping when his sons were younger to working on cars as they grew older. He was ruthless playing the card game Pitch and always said “you gotta bid to win” and usually did! He loved spending time hanging out in his garage with “Busch Light” and one of his greatest treasures was being reunited with his first two children, Nickie and Tim. He loved family get togethers and spending time with all of his children and grandchildren. The other thing he wanted most from life was to restore his first car, a 1966 Buick Grand Sport Convertible, which just recently went in for restoration. His dream will be fulfilled and he will see it from heaven.
