Robin Ann Dowd

October 17, 1955 - August 18, 2026

Robin Ann Dowd, 70, of Lincoln, passed away on August 18, 2026, She was born October 17, 1955, in Hastings, NE to Robert and Nancy (Hill) McCleery.

She graduated from Lincoln High School and continued her education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Robin will be dearly missed and will be remembered for her many hobbies that included sewing, cooking, and gardening. She enjoyed gardening and making flower arrangements as she worked part-time in the Hy-Vee Floral department. Robin also loved cats and always made sure she had a cat around the house. She was a nurturer and cared for many people. Her main focus was dedicating her life to teaching. Robin retired after 34 years as a special educating teacher at Lincoln High School.

Family members include her husband, Stanley, children; Candice Dowd, Tahnisha (Jonathan) Dowd-Dick, Christina Dowd, and Tarae Dowd, grandchildren; Reymundo Barrera, Freddy Barrera Jr., Riqui Barrera, Chante Dowd, Julian Goines, Stryker McCoy, brother, Dave (Robin) McCleery, sister-in-law, Linda (Catherine) Rotello-Dowd, brother-in-law, Kenneth Boyd, and niece, Caitlin Casella.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 25, 2026, at Metcalf Funeral Home, 245 N 27th St. Lincoln, NE 68503.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.

Robin was always conscientious and dependable in carrying out the “boring “ part of being a Special Educator-all the paperwork! But her caring heart and gentle demeanor helped many students with disabilities to reach toward their potential and a satisfying life. Robin blessed many lives

Words cannot express what a beautiful soul you were. Robin gave so much to so many and was consistently the same person over her lifetime. She will be greatly missed by her family, loved ones, colleagues and friends.
