Velora Mae Wilson

April 5, 1936 - April 19, 2026

Velora Mae Wilson, 90, of Lincoln passed away April 19, 2026. Born April 5, 1936, in Deshler, Nebraska to William and Ruth (Noel) Ernst.

Velora served as former Campfire Girls leader. She enjoyed ceramics, needlepoint, music, camping, and loved doing craft projects with her grandchildren.

Family members include her husband, Gene whom she would of celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 19, 2026; children Terri (Calvin) Kadavy, Bill (Trish) Peterson, Tony (Cindy) Peterson, Michelle (Mike) Konz, Glenn (Daniella) Wilson, and Jeremy (Sarah) Wilson; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother Ronald Ernst; sister-in-law LaVonne (Dave) Fischer; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, and first husband Leonard Peterson.

Memorial service: 11:00 am Friday, April 24, 2026, Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 O Street. Inurnment in Omaha National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to the family for future designation.

I worked with Val at the state and have many good memories of her. She gave me the nickname “Big Bird “ and obviously enjoyed teasing me. Val was a mainstay at work, and part of her undocumented job description was to create “good troubles” which she did with zeal. She also liked to party and I really enjoyed going to her and Gene’s cabin at Republican City several times along with other coworkers for a weekend of fishing and good
