Sharon was born on September 22, 1942, to Arthur and Joanne Olson in Omaha. She met Joseph Michael Burke while in High School and went to her North Highschool senior prom with him. They were married on January 12, 1962, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Omaha.
Sharon was a devoted wife and mother and stayed home with her children for 20 years while selling Avon and doing daycare. She began working for Home Interiors and Gifts in 1981 and worked as a representative for 27 years and was the Midwest Queen of Sales for many years. Joe and Sharon enjoyed travelling and many adventures together. After living in Omaha, Provo, Indianapolis and Atlanta, Sharon moved to Lincoln, Nebraska with Joe to be close to their children and grandchildren in 2001. Sharon celebrated 62 years of marriage with her best friend Joe this year. Sharon lived courageously battling Parkinson’s disease for the past 10 years.
Sharon was a long-time member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Omaha and more recently at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She loved children and was active in VBS, Sunday School, and Women’s Ministry. She adored her great grandchildren and was blessed by them every visit. Sharon had the gift of encouragement and hospitality. She encouraged many with her cards and gifts. She loved Jesus and His word. She faithfully prayed for her family and friends and will be missed by all.
Sharon is survived by her two children, Julie (Don) Henslee and David (Lisa) Burke of Lincoln and her honorary daughter Andrea Robinson. She will be missed by her Grandchildren, Austin (Tori) Henslee, Chelsea (Logan) McGuffey, Collin Henslee, Brandon (Paige) Henslee, Dylan (Corttany) Burke, Riley (Erin) Burke, and Jocelyn Burke. Her great grandchildren adored her and included Hayden McGuffey, Hudson McGuffey, Harbor McGuffey, Heath McGuffey, Aurora Henslee, Evelyn Henslee, Oliver Henslee, Charley Burke, and Amelia Burke.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sandy Olson, and her great grand-daughter Charlotte Burke.
Her memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska at 11:00 am on April 19, 2024. The viewing will be prior to the service starting at 10:30 am at the church. The service can be viewed on YouTube by searching Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Media. Broadcasting should start about 10:50 am CST.
We invite everyone to share a meal immediately after the service. The burial will take place at the Cheney Cemetery after our fellowship time.
