Karen S. Althouse

September 24, 1962 - June 26, 2026

Karen S. Althouse, 63, of Lincoln passed away peacefully June 26, 2026.

Born September 24, 1962, in Lincoln, NE to Marlene (White) and Clarence Althouse, Jr.  Karen was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church, Waverly.

Karen graduated from Waverly High School and earned a degree in Business from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She spent her career in the accounting and buying departments of Nebraska Book Company and NRC Health.

Faith was an important part of Karen’s life, and she lived her faith through service to others. She was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran, singing in the choir for over 35 years. She held the roles of treasurer, teacher, and youth group leader, served on numerous committees and participated in faith groups.

Karen enjoyed baking, sewing, and crafting gifts for family and friends. She will be remembered for her baby blankets, doll clothes, handy alterations, Jello eggs at Easter and chicken soup at Christmas.

Karen was an engaged Aunt, attending many, many sporting and school events, patiently playing card and board games, or helping with school pickup and childcare.

Family members include her father Clarence (Art) Althouse, Jr., Waverly; siblings Steve Althouse (Tamara), Waverly; Lori Luebbe (Wayne), Lincoln; and Brenda Althouse (Paul Fingersh), Kansas City. Aunt to Claire O’Connor (Joe), Emily Salistean (Tom), Hannah Althouse (Jacob Schlange), Kyle Luebbe, Ilana Fingersh, Annie Fingersh, Jenna Luebbe; and Great Aunt to Owen, Catherine, Finn, Edwin, Leo, Emmett and Callum. She valued her large extended family and held lifelong friendships with cousins and coworkers.

She was preceded in death by her mother Marlene.

Funeral services on Monday, July 6, with a graveside service at 9:00 am at Lincoln Memorial Park, 6800 S. 14th Street (meet at gate 2), followed by a worship service at 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church, 9831 N. 145th Street, Waverly, NE. The service will be streamed on the Peace Lutheran YouTube channel @peacewaverly.

Visitation with family greeting friends on Sunday, July 5, from 3-5 pm, Roper and Sons Waverly Chapel, 10851 North 148th Street.
