J. Robert “Bob” Sandberg, 91, Lincoln, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010. Born April 9, 1919, in Lincoln, to Herbert A. and Mabel (Blough) Sandberg. U.S. Army WWII Captain, Pacific Theatre Psychological Warfare Branch. Recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. Former Vice-President of the University of Nebraska Foundation. BA from University of Nebraska Lincoln, MBA from Harvard University.
Member: First-Plymouth Congregational Church, past president of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.
Family members include sons, daughters-in-law, Eric Sandberg and Mabell Rivas, Lincoln, Arne Sandberg and H. Jill Krain, Walnut Creek, Calif.; daughter, son-in-law, Brenda Sandberg and Lt. Col. Mark Berglund, Washington, DC; five grandchildren, Tyler, Grant, Greta, Daniel and Erin. Preceded in death by parents and wife Greta (Svec) Sandberg.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at First-Plymouth Congregational Church, 2000 ‘D’ Street. Rev. Nancy Erickson officiating with a reception in Pilgrim Hall immediately following the service.
Memorials may be given to the Lincoln Community Foundation to benefit the following organizations: Friendship Home, NET Foundation and Lincoln Community Foundation.
