Obituary

Douglas Eugene Deeter

February 26, 1953 - February 14, 2026

Douglas Eugene Deeter, 72, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on February 14, 2026.

Doug was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, a community he loved and proudly called home throughout his life.  He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, forming lifelong friendships and memories that remained important to him.

Following college, Doug entered the family business, Deeter Foundry, Inc., where his leadership, integrity and work ethic carried the company forward.  He eventually served as President and CEO until the business was sold 1998.

Doug had a deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid golfer and found great happiness hunting alongside his beloved black labs. Whether on the golf course, in the field or surrounded by family and friends, he was most at peace doing the things he loved with the people he cherished.

Doug will be remembered for his steady presence, his dedication to family and community, and the strength and kindness he carried throughout his life.  His legacy lives on in the family he adored and the many lives he touched.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Jacqueline Deeter, and his sister, Carol Campbell.

Above all else, Doug was a devoted husband, father and Papa. He shared 50 years of marriage with his wife, Leslie Deeter. He is also survived by his daughter, Cary (Chad) Kline, his son, Trent Deeter; and his sister, Jane (Craig) Pohlman. He was a proud and loving Papa to Sam, Ben and Max Kline, who brought him immeasurable joy.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 3, 2026, at First Plymouth Congregational Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo or charity of the donor’s choosing.
