Yvonne E. (Yohe) Nelson

May 21, 1927 - March 21, 2013

Yvonne E. (Yohe) Nelson, 85, passed away on March 21, 2013, at Angelic Manor in Wildomar, California. A lifelong resident of Nebraska prior to her relocation to California in 2012, Yvonne was born May 21, 1927, in Swedeburg, Nebraska to Robert DeWitt and Nellie Mae (Lee) Yohe. She graduated from Ceresco High School, class of 1945.

Vocation: a retired Expeditor for the Lincoln Public Schools who was a member and past local and state president of the Nebraska Educational Office Professionals Association (NEOPA). Avocation: After retiring from the school system, Yvonne acted in the role of Superintendent of Photography for the Nebraska State Fair from 2005 through 2011 and Superintendent of Photography for the Lancaster County Fair in 2010 and 2011. Pursuing further her love of photography, she was a member and past president of the Lincoln Camera Club. Yvonne loved her family, her photography and her Boston terrier and companion, Lacey.

Preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nellie Mae Yohe; sister, Juanita Knepper; brothers Edward Knepper, Roland Knepper and Walter Yohe; former husband, Gilbert L. Nelson; domestic partner, Merlin O. Wiltfang; and son, Gene L. Nelson.

Survivors include daughter, Elaine Y. Nelson and domestic partner, John A. Clark; granddaughters, Candi L. Linton and husband, Rob; Yvette L. Ernst and domestic partner, Bruce Gossett; Brenda S. Chase and husband, Bob; Tami J. Frazier and husband, Todd; nephews, nieces, grand nephews and nieces, and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Yvonne’s Life will be held at Roper & Sons Funeral Home on July 6th at 2:00 p.m. Friends are invited to join the family for an informal gathering and final farewell to our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, great-grandmother, great-aunt and friend at Weston Cemetery at 4:00 p.m.
