Obituary

Robert Gardner

March 1, 1948 - September 27, 2025

Robert “Bob” Ralph Gardner, 77, of Lincoln passed away September 27, 2025. Born March 1, 1948, in Lincoln, NE to Robert Ralph and Darleen (Hanneman) Gardner, Sr.

Bob graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School (1966) and Nebraska Wesleyan University (1971). Immediately following graduation from Wesleyan University, he was drafted into the US Army where he served in Alaska for 2 years. Not Bob’s idea of a good vacation.

Bob started at NE Department of Insurance (7-3-73), retired as a senior financial examiner in 2014.

During his high school and college years, Bob worked at Meek Lumber yard in University Place.

After retiring from State of Nebraska Bob never set his alarm clock again! Bob enjoyed his passions, of gardening, woodworking, cooking, and grandparenting. He taught anyone who would help the art of pasta making, bread making, woodworking and canning.

So if there’s such a thing as the rainbow bridge, we are sure Bob is there looking for all of his furry friends.

Family members include his wife, Janet; children Seth Walter Gardner (Uyen Thi), Lincoln, Laura Bartolome (Scott), Richardson, TX, Linda Longe (Mike), Hendersonville, TN, and Amy Rawson, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Carter Bartolome, Logan Bartolome (Lexi), Aaron Longe (Lauren), Will Longe (Ashley), Madeline Rawson-Riley (Andy), and Savannah Gardner; great grandchildren Lonnie Reilly and Miles Longe; sister Lynne Chudyk (Steve), Scottsdale, AZ; niece Crescent. Preceded in death by his parents.

Very sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. Always loved going to Grandma’s house because I knew we would be seeing Uncle Bob and Bobbie. We were not close family but we were family, distance does that, and I have very fond memories of him he was my older cousin and he was pretty cool. Rest In Peace cousin hopefully we will meet and go cruising again.
