Nettie Young, 76, of Lincoln, died Saturday, May 31, 2008. She was born Nettie Okamoto on January 6, 1932 to Isoji and Shigemi Okamoto in North Platte, NE. Nettie graduated from North Platte High School in 1950. She moved to Lincoln and worked at Gold’s Department Store. She married her first husband Derold Young in February, 1957. For many years Nettie worked at Bishops Buffet in Gateway as a hostess/bookkeeper. She was preceded in death by her first husband Derold, her parents and two brothers; Mark and Frankie Okamoto. Nettie married Bob Zook in July 2007.
Survivors: husband, Bob; son, Randall Young of North Carolina; daughter, Tammy Speidell; two grandchildren, Spenser and Skylar Speidell, all of Lincoln; two brothers, Ted and Mary Okamoto of Estes, CO; Ken and Lucette Okamoto of North Platte, NE;
and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral Services: 11 AM Friday, June 6th at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Lincoln, NE. Rev. Craig Gavin will officiate. Burial will follow at the Wyuka Cemetery.
Memorials in lieu of flowers, a college fund for her grandchildren have been established in her name.
