Obituary

Michael Steven Miszkiel

February 23, 1968 - February 20, 2025

Michael Steven Miszkiel, 56, died February 20th, surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of love, selflessness, laughter, and many cherished memories.  He was a beloved father, brother, son, and friend to all who knew him.  Growing up in Tekamah, Nebr.  Mike excelled academically and set a high school record for shooting consecutive free throws.  Mike after high school, moved to Lincoln, Nebr. where he was a handyman, Kirby repairman, and maintenance man for the YMCA. Mike’s overall passion in life was being a devoted Dad.

Mike loved the great outdoors, his passion for fishing and hunting was only matched by his love for grilling at the BBQ, where he would often gather friends and family for delicious meals. When he wasn’t casting a line or tending to the grill, Mike could be found honing his dart-throwing skills, watching his favorite sports and was a lifelong Husker fan.  Mike always had big fish stories to share and enjoyed reading the newspaper.

Mike was a loving father to his children, Joshua and Mandy. He took immense pride in their accomplishments.  Mike also cherished his extended family, embracing Jeremy, Aaron, and Amber as his own. His love and dedication knew no bounds; and he leaves behind a family who will forever hold him close in their hearts and remember his infectious laugh.

Mike is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Stanislaw and Anna Miszkiel of Tekamah; his older brothers Henryk Miszkiel of Wetumpka, Ala. and John Miszkiel of Prattville, Ala.; and the mother of his children Jeanette Gage of Lincoln.

He is survived by his sister Susan (Miszkiel) Sallee (Robert) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his children Joshua Miszkiel of Santa Maria, Calif. and Mandy Miszkiel of Aurora, Colo.; Aaron Gage, Jeremy Gage, and Amber Gage of Lincoln; and long-time companion Laury Noble of Lincoln.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3rd with a reception to follow at the Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel.

Burial will be held at Tekamah Cemetery in Tekamah, NE.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in Mike’s honor to Omaha Children’s Hospital.
