Obituary

Linda Kay (Schneider) Hanna

August 21, 1954 - September 18, 2025

Linda Kay (Schneider) Hanna, age 71, passed away on September 18, 2025. Born August 21, 1954, in Sterling, Illinois, Linda graduated from Beatrice High School and UNL where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Linda worked for the Lincoln City Libraries as a branch manager, then later at local independent bookstores. She was a voracious reader and loved nothing better than losing herself in a good book.

Linda was the beloved wife of 48 years to Douglas D. Hanna and adored mother of David Hanna (Denise Harsh) and Andrew (Matthew) Hanna-Ransom.

Linda is also survived by her sisters, Suzanne (Therett) Lewis, Kay Roesch, and Connie Schneider. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Molly Schneider, mother-in-law Dona Hanna, brothers-in-law David Roesch and Dana Hanna.

Linda thoroughly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life including tending to her flowers, feeding and watching her “birdies”, loving on her dogs, Callie and Teddy, and relaxing at her Lake Waconda cabin.

Linda was a kind and compassionate soul, a beautiful person inside and out, and she will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

There will be a private celebration of life as per Linda’s request. Memorials may go to the Food Bank of Lincoln or the Capital Humane Society.

The family would like to thank the staff of HoriSun Hospice for their loving care of Linda.
