Leona Theresa Elizabeth (Bonow) Smith, 86, of Waverly died 7/31/08 in Lincoln. Born 8/23/1921 near Superior, NE to Reinhardt & Ottilie (Stutheit) Bonow. She moved near Ithaca, NE in 1935 and graduated from Wahoo High School in 1939. On 4/29/1946 she married Stanley G. Smith at Zion Lutheran Church near Ithaca. She was a home maker, farm wife, and employee of Dorsey Laboratories. She was a 50 year member of First United Methodist Church of Waverly and a member of the Seniors Diners.
She is survived by daughter, Delores Smith, Lincoln, daughter and son-in-law, Scott & Jane Byram, Austin, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Dean & Debbie Smith, Waverly; grandchildren: Ryan Smith, Eagle; Kile Smith, Omaha; Jeff & Keri Ryan, Lincoln; and Bryce Smith, Lincoln ; several cousins, and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Orville Bonow, Ithaca, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services were held Tuesday (8-5-08) at. at First United Methodist Church. Interment, 2 P.M. Tuesday. Sunrise Cemetery, Wahoo.
