Obituary

Kenneth Charles Jackson Jr.

May 27, 1947 - October 24, 2021

Kenneth Charles Jackson Jr., 74, of Lincoln passed away on October 24, 2021.  He was born in Broken Bow, NE, to Kenneth C. and Pauline (Prescott) Jackson, Sr.  Kenneth was an avid outdoorsman who retired from the Department of Agriculture as Program Manager (Feed, Fertilizer and AgLine).  He was very proud to be an Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.  Kenneth enjoyed classic cars, owning one himself; a 1953 Mercury Convertible.  Ken was a member of Sesostris Shrine East Lincoln #210. He was a selfless man who volunteered his time as a “Roadrunner” for the Shrine, taking children on trips to the Hospital in Minnesota.  Ken also assisted working funeral services and doing whatever would need to be done to help families.  He would never turn away from lending a helping hand.  Ken was a huge Husker fan.  Most important to him, was his family, whether having everyone together to watch the Huskers or simply being around them.

His family includes wife Marilyn of 53 years; sons Jeffrey (Valerie) and Jason (Dawn); grandchildren Jessica, Carmen, Charles, Shellbi, Ava, Nathan, all of Lincoln; brother George (Pat) of Broken Bow, NE; numerous extended family members and friends.  Preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.

Celebration of Life will be held 9:00 a.m., Friday, October 29, 2021, at Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street, Lincoln (10).  A livestream link will be available 10 minutes prior to service at roperandsons.com.  Pastor Ray Norris officiating.  No visitation/Cremation.  Burial 11:00 a.m., following the service Friday, in the Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Rd, Omaha, NE 68138.

Memorials may be given to the Sesostris Shrine Transportation Fund.

I worked with Ken for years at the NE Dept of Agriculture. The thing that always stuck out about him – a genuine SMILE came easy! Ken was one of those who made the workplace pleasant.

I worked at Lincoln Memorial at the front desk for several years and scheduled funeral assistants for services. Ken was so calm and always professional. We’d get a chance to visit once in a while. I loved to see him smile and chuckle. What a wonderful, caring, genuine, giving man he was. I will always remember him with much fondness. Marilyn and family – May the Promise of Easter give you strength in the coming days. He rests in the most loving arms!
