A proud mother of two, Kathryn poured her heart into raising her children, always leading with love, patience, and a gentle, kind spirit that could brighten any room. She had a passion for the simple but beautiful things in life: from her intricate quilts stitched with care, to her hand-painted crafts that now live on as treasured keepsakes.
She was equally gifted in the kitchen, where the aroma of her baked goods and cooking promised comfort and celebration. Her recipes—many passed down, many perfected by her touch—became family favorites and brought joy to every gathering.
Kathryn was a spirited fan of Nebraska sports, proudly cheering on Husker football and volleyball with unwavering loyalty. Game days were events to be savored, and she made them feel like home. She was also an avid reader, and had a green thumb as she tended her beloved flowers and garden vegetables.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless handmade treasures. She will be deeply missed by her children, Aaron (Susan) Burkey and Peggy (Tim) Ickes; granddaughter, Amber (Nick) Arrington; great granddaughter, Ali LoveAll; sister, Linda (Gayle) Cooper; sister-in-law, JoAnn Currie; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Preceded in death by her parents and brother David Currie.
