Janet worked in a variety of careers. She trained and worked as a dental assistant for several years, then went on to earn a college degree in 1988. At various stages, she was a homemaker and full-time stay-at-home mom, bookkeeper, office manager, retail clerk, U.S. Customs inspector, social worker, and farm wife.
Janet’s avocational interests were similarly broad. She sang in church choir for much of her life and instilled a love of music in all of her children. She was a voracious reader, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, painting, and traveling. She was particularly close to her brother, Kermit, whom she lost in 2020. She loved spending time with family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
