Irma Williams Udd Nelson

June 23, 1917 - July 2, 2008

Irma Williams Udd Nelson, 91, Lincoln, died peacefully Wednesday, (7/2/08). Born (6/23/1917) in Wann Neb., the oldest of four daughters of Emory and Myrtle (Dodds) Williams, Irma graduated from Mead High School and attended Luther College in Wahoo. Irma was married to Milton Udd for 26 years before he died in 1963. She and Milton farmed land in Mead and Wausa for several years before moving to Lincoln. During her lifetime she also worked as an administrative assistant at Back to the Bible Broadcast (Lincoln); Crista Ministries, Seattle Engineering Department and Ballard Hospital (Seattle); and Lincoln Telephone Company and Diversified Service (Lincoln) before retiring. Irma was a dedicated employee and received several recognition awards for outstanding performance. Irma became a Christian when she was 16 years old and spent the rest of her life serving her Lord in various capacities in both the Evangelical Covenant and Baptist churches. She loved music and played the organ for several years. She also organized several youth activities including Vacation Bible School, children’s choirs, and young people’s Bible study groups. In 1980 she married Glen Nelson, a long-time friend. They recently celebrated 27 years of marriage. Glen was a loving and devoted husband to Irma.

Family members include husband, Glen Nelson; children: Janet (Udd) Eckhardt, Jeanette (Udd) and Gene Erickson, Ron and Helen Nelson, Sharon (Nelson) and Dave Penrod, and Doug and JoAnn Nelson; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Irma was preceded in death by her first husband, Milton Udd and parents. Irma will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (7/9/08) Eastmont Towers Chapel, 6315 ‘O’ Street. Pastor Donald Gaines officiating. Prior private interment in Morningside Cemetery, Mead.
