Helen R. Digby, 92, of Lincoln, NE died, October 21. Born on December 20, 1925, to Rose and Joseph Chvasta, in Pittsburgh, PA. Helen married Robert R. Digby on March 13, 1947 (now deceased).
Helen is survived by her sister Rosemary, her daughter Marjorie Kostelnik (husband Dave); son Tim Digby (wife Gail, grandson Kyle and spouse Kat); son Tom Long (wife Susan, granddaughters Abigail, Emily and Claire, their spouses, as well as 4 great grandchildren).
Helen valued education and was proud to achieve a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971. Later, she earned her LPN associates degree. She was a great cook (one of the best pie makers ever), a dedicated quilter and a teddy bear maker and collector. She thoroughly enjoyed reading, history, geography, the movies, and the Huskers!
Helen appreciated the many friends she made in Lincoln and was especially fond of the three ladies who shared a table with her at the Waterford of Williamsburg. Also, her respect and valuing of the staff there knew no bounds.
There will be a Celebration of Helen’s life, Monday, October 29, at 11 AM in Christ Episcopal Church, North Hills, 5910 Babcock Blvd. Pittsburgh PA.
