Gladys Wiar Johnson, 93, Lincoln, died Tuesday (11-22-11). Born (12-30-17) on a farm near Adams and Firth, Nebraska to Samuel Clay and Minnie A. B. (Petz) McPherson. Attended rural Grandview High School in Adams, NE and Peru State College. Taught in rural schools for five years. Worked for Ben Simons for 20 years retiring in 1985. Married to Paul Wiar for 36 years until his death. In 1985 married Lyle Johnson. Member: Vine Congregational Church. Founding member (1984) of Sunday “Meet and Eat” widowed persons group.
Family members include husband Lyle H. Johnson; grandchildren: Jeff and Kim McCoy, San Diego, CA, Jay and Robin McCoy, Omaha, NE; 5 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; step-daughter, spouse: Phyllis and Norm Saale, Grand Island, NE; step-son: Jerry Johnson, Lincoln, NE; 7 step-grandchildren; brother: Don McPherson, Adams, NE. Preceded in death by parents, first husband Paul Wiar, daughter Sharon Benson, brothers Raymond, Glen and Chester McPherson, sisters Eva Jones and Myrtle Williams.
Funeral Service: 2:30 p.m. Friday (11-25-11) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Pastor Dean McPherson, officiating.
