Earl Avery Lewis

May 18, 1929 - April 23, 2016

Earl Avery Lewis, 86, Lincoln, NE, formerly Nelson, NE and Canon City, Colorado, passed away April 23, 2016. Born May 18, 1929 in Lake City, Kansas to Verdie Zeanna Mae Carter and Wilbur Earl Lewis.

Survived by his daughter Catherine Lewis, daughter and son-in-law Susan (Mark) Zink, and grandson Justin Zink of Lincoln, Nebraska, and grandson Connor Zink of St. Petersburg, Florida. He is also survived by his sisters Wilma (Max) Munson of Irving, Texas, Geneva Garoutte of Penrose, Colorado, Lola Davies of Florence, Colorado, Vera (Jim) Kite of Canon City, Colorado, sister-in-law Verda Mae Lewis of Kennewick, Washington, brother-in-law Curtis Acton of Canon City, Colorado, and numerous nieces and nephews. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 67 years, Edith, his sisters Mae Brassea and Juanita Acton, brother Paul Lewis, and brothers-in-law Jim Brassea, Bobby Garoutte, and Griff Davies.

Earl loved his family. He was happiest when he made others happy. He loved music, fishing, travel, and food. He was an accomplished guitar player, singer, toy maker, mechanic, and builder. Earl loved getting in the car and just going -no particular destination in mind. He went many more places in his imagination, and now he has embarked on the greatest journey of all. Welcome to the afterlife Dad.

Private family memorial will be held in Colorado at a later date.
