Earl A. (Odge) Forst, 83, of Lincoln, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012. He was born in Havelock, Neb. to John and Mary (Slivkova) Forst. Earl grew up in Lincoln and worked for 37 dedicated years at Burlington Northern Railroad where he moved up the ladder to Airbrake Supervisor. At the shops, he was active with “Explorers”, associated with the Boy Scouts.
Earl married his soul mate Mary Jean Larsen in 1952. They resided in Lincoln. During early retirement, they wintered on North Padre Island for many years. They made many friends there. He played AAA softball for many years with three teams: “Tillmans”, “Kings”, and “Falstaff”. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bird watching, woodworking, and gardening.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother John; sisters, Blanche and Emilie. Survived by wife, Mary Jean, Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Bonnie, Lincoln; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Rick Standley, Seward, and Diana and Randy Krause, Lincoln; six grandchildren: Jennifer, Bryce, Dillon, Braden, Samantha and Jared; three great-grandchildren: Jason, Macen, and Andrew; sisters, Ann and Milie.
Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Pastor Mike McMurtry, officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Thursday, with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m., funeral home.
