Obituary

Douglas L. Wayman

February 5, 1947 - January 15, 2026

Douglas L. Wayman, 78, passed away on January 15, 2026, in Lincoln, NE. He was born on February 5, 1947, to Glenn and Regina (Reber) Wayman in Lincoln, NE.  He was a devoted husband to Judy Wayman and a loving father to Dan and Scott Wayman.

Doug was hard-working and dedicated. He spent 16+ years working as an insurance and car salesman where he received many awards and recognition of a top performer.  Before retirement, Doug spent working for Sioux Plating for many years.

Though Doug did not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of love honored. He was a man of integrity and kindness, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Doug enjoyed Nascar racing, airplanes, WWII history, and yard work.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Dan (Nicole) Wayman; former daughter-in-law, Teri Wayman; four grandchildren Cole Wayman, Tyler Wayman, Avery Wayman, and Jake Wayman; three great-grandchildren; sister, Barb Cleary; along with numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his mother; son, Scott Wayman; and sister, Margaret Wayman.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr., Lincoln, NE 68516). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

We find comfort in knowing that Doug’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.

As the song goes…Precious Memories…how they linger. Indeed, we’ve been lifelong friends. Throughout our lives even when life circumstances were such we wouldn’t see one another for a bit, we always knew you were as close as a call. We loved Doug and his special place in our hearts remains. May God give you peace now, Judy, and may He bless and keep you as He has throughout this journey and beyond.

I grew up in the same neighborhood as Doug and I remember a classic older car that he had with a custom interior. He was always a friendly person who got along with everyone. May he rest in peace!
