Donna Jean Beccard passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Collins, CO on March 6, 2016 surrounded by family after a short illness. She was 95.
Donna Jean was born in Avoca, NE to Harry O. and Anna K. (Viox) Mickle on August 30, 1920. She graduated from Avoca High School and received a Business Degree from Peru State College in Peru; NE. Donna married Ralph E. Beccard on February 28, 1943. After his discharge from the Army in 1945, they moved to Lincoln. She was a resident of Lincoln until moving to Fort Collins in 2002 to be closer to her family.
In addition to raising her family, Donna worked as a secretary and administrator. She is most remembered for her work at Tabitha Home and Lincoln Council Camp Fire Girls. She was a long time member of Heritage Presbyterian Church. Donna had many, many friends and was “Grandma Donna” to all who met her.
Donna is survived by a son Robert (Jennifer), Fort Collins, CO; daughter Julie Meznarich, Ogden, UT; grandchildren Marissa and Melia Beccard; Acoda (Jessie) Meznarich and Shane Meznarich; nieces Jan (Mike) Lomax, LuAnn Gobber, and Kathy (Fred) Helmink all of Lincoln; nephew Rick (Connie) Bruns, Avoca; 24 great nieces and nephews; and 20 great-great nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a cousin Ronald (Betty) Ganzel, Pawnee City and sister-in-law Ella Beccard, Syracuse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father and mother, grandparents Robert and Julia Mickle, Mary Viox, her sister Geraldine Bruns and husband Maynard Bruns, and son-in-law Charles Meznarich.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2016 with family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Roper and Sons.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Fort Collins at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to the Heritage Presbyterian Church, Lincoln; Pathways Hospice or Poudre Landmarks Foundation, Fort Collins; or a charity of your choice.
