David Kent Peterson

July 9, 1937 - March 8, 2024

David Kent Peterson, born July 9, 1937, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Ralph Mast and Dorothy Adeline (January) Peterson, passed away March 8th, 2024. He lived in Coleridge, Nebraska, graduating from Coleridge High School in 1955.

In 1961, David graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. He married Hazel Grace Ahlschwede, Crete, Nebraska on June 7th, 1959. He served as the first Director of the North Central Regional Planning Commission in Beloit, KS; Director of Administration at the Missouri Basin States Association in Omaha; and as an Associate Campus Planner for the University of Nebraska.

David was preceded in death by wife Hazel, and Sisters and Brothers-in-Law Helen and Allen Plucknett, Alice Ahlschwede, Doris Banister, and Dennis Verbeek. He is survived by Sister Carol Verbeek; children Christine Treaster (Brad), Douglas Peterson; grandchildren Laura (Treaster) Lorenz (Chad), Michael Treaster, Simone Ballard, Ellen Nordgren (Derek), Katie Peterson; and a great-granddaughter Autumn Lorenz.

No formal services are planned. A family graveside service will be held in June. Memorials may be made to the Capitol Humane Society in Lincoln, NE, or as designated by the Donor.

I worked with Dave in Facilities Management & Planning at UNL. He was a great colleague, and I learned much facilities planning from Dave. I will miss the times we would get together for coffee when I returned to Lincoln for a visit.
