Bernard W. “Bernie” Nider, 86, Lincoln, died Wednesday (12-15-10). Born (8-15-24) in Fairbury, Nebraska to Leslie L. and Julia Grace (Daily) Nider. World War II veteran, US Army Company E, 116th Reg. 29th Division. First Wave Omaha Beach June 6, 1944; Northern France; Rhineland. Licensed Civil Engineer. President of Nider Jergensen Construction Company. Former employee of Nebraska Dept. of Roads, Dobson Brothers, Constructors and Flinn Paving. Graduate of Plymouth High School, attended University of Nebraska Lincoln. Past President of Nebraska Association of General Contractors, American Legion Post #3, VFW Post 3077, Fairbury, NE, 29th Division Association. An avid Husker fan.
Family members include son, daughter-in-law: Pat and Jodi Nider; daughters, sons-in-law: Susie and Don Kreiter, Chris Nider, Laurie Glenn, all of Lincoln, Julie and Joe Madsen, Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren: Andrew Glenn, Lincoln, Sgt. Travis Glenn, Afghanistan, Josh and Jason Madsen, Council Bluffs, IA, Natalie Nider, Lincoln; great granddaughter: Maggie Glenn, Lincoln; nieces, nephews. Preceeded in death by parents, wife of 59 years Marylu, sister, brother-in-law Marian and Floyd Scott, brother, sister-in-law Mark and Virginia Nider, nephew Todd Nider.
Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Wednesday (12-22-10) Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd. Reverends Dr. Andrew L. McDonald and Ellen Davis. Burial of cremains at Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice in the spring with full military honors by Nebraska Army National Honors Team.
