Evaline Jensine (Sullivan) Scott, 100, of Lincoln, NE, passed away January 28, 2015. Born December 9, 1914 in Darr, NE (Dawson County) to Samuel Dempsey and Bessie (Nelson) Sullivan.
When she was 3 years old her parents moved to Rockville, NE where her father was a telegrapher and station agent for the Union Pacific Railroad. After graduating from Rockville High School (1932) she attended Kearney State College where she earned her teaching certificate. Evaline taught school one year and then entered nurses training at St. Josephs at Creighton University in Omaha and became an RN. In 1939 after taking a civil service exam she became a nurse in the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville, IA where she worked for 35 years before retiring. Evaline took many continuing ed courses at Iowa University Med School. She married William J. Scott in Knoxville on May 8, 1942. Evaline was active in many organizations including O.E.S., Red Cross, NARSE, Historical Society and Senior Citizens. She had 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Preceded in death by her parents; older brothers, Nels A. Sullivan, S. D. Sullivan, Jr.; sisters, Olga Karr, Elva M. Bays. Survived by brother, George (Genie) Sullivan.
Prayer gathering at 10:30 a.m. Sunday (2-1-15) at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Burial at a later date in Knoxville, IA.
