Stephanie Marie (Oliveros) Wever, 32, of Lincoln, NE passed away 12/25/15. Born April 22, 1983 to John and Deborah Oliveros. At four months old Stephanie had her PDA repaired. At the age of 12, due to an enlarged aorta, she had to have an aortic root replacement and also had her aortic value replaced. Due to these complications, on November 1, 2005, Stephanie suffered a massive stroke. This was her third stroke and was the worst yet. It occurred as she was walking down an aisle at the Omaha Wal-Mart returning a shopping cart to customer service.
She was in Madonna Rehab Facility after the stroke and was treated with inpatient and outpatient therapy to make a great recovery. The year before, Derek got down on one knee to propose to her. After the stroke, she didn’t want anything to stand in the way of the wedding she had been waiting for her entire life. During her rehab she worked with speech and occupational therapists to plan her wedding. Stephanie had a rare disorder called Acta2, which causes the muscle tissue around the aorta valve to thin.
Stephanie lived for her nephews Caedon and Cruz. Her license plates even said Aunt Steph. Stephanie was very supportive of her brother Rob’s diabetes, always attended the JDRF walk, was a board member for the Nebraska Stroke Association, advocate for the Heart Walk, winner of a Goal Award in 2008 from Madonna Rehab hospital and graduated from Metro Community College with a degree in Medical Office Management. Before her passing, she worked as a Hostess at Saints Pub & Patio. Stephanie loved to ride with her dad on the motorcycle, attend Martina concerts with her mom, and was an avid lover of Country, Luke Bryan being her favorite.
Stephanie is survived by her husband, Derek Wever; Special Dog, Embry; parents; John and Deborah Oliveros; Brothers, Robbie (Candis Hager) Oliveros, and Rickey Oliveros; Nephews, Caedon and Cruz Oliveros; Grandparents, Norm (Cynthia) Monroe, and Anita Oliveros; and many other loving relatives and friends.
