Dale E. Nelson, 91, of Malcolm, died Thursday, August 2, 2012, following a fall from his scooter. Born Malcolm, Neb. on December 26, 1920 to Frank and Esther (Olson) Nelson. Retired Farmer, past ASC Committee member, volunteer fireman, school board member. Red Cross County Chairman, church lay leader, liaison to League of Human Dignity. Dale and his wife Ella made wood figures for children at Pee Wee Palace. Recently volunteered as unofficial photographer for Clark Jeary retirement community. Avid reader, rock collector, bird watcher, history buff, golfer and friend.
Family members include his daughters, Sonja Schildt, Lincoln, Judith Ilg (Lynn), Green Valley, Ariz.; son, David Nelson, Lincoln; grandchildren: Brent Schildt, Ryan Schildt, Leigh (Landon) Husband, Jennifer Constable (Richard Hess), Christine (Ben) Leroux, Michele (Mark) Slama, Vadra Stutzman, Brian (Karen) Stutzman; great grandchildren: Landon Michael, Jenna and Faith Husband, Lauren Schildt, Sarah, Kaylyn and Remington Slama, Wolfgang and Helen Leroux, Alan Hess and Madison Stutzman. Preceded in death by his wife, Ella, parents, sister, Ethelene Priess, brother, Earl Nelson and daughter-in-law, Patti Nelson.
Funeral Service: 9 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012, at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Rev. Gil Karges, officiating. Burial in the Malcolm Cemetery.
