Attended Fairbury Junior College. Taught in rural elementary schools. Active in numerous Church and Community organizations. Service to Redeemer Lutheran Church included Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher and more than forty years in Chancel Guild.
Community activities included Lincoln Community Women’s Club – Outstanding Clubwoman 1975, Nebraska and Lincoln Law Wives. Life member Nebraska PTA. Avid quilter, bowler, and bridge player. Laurie hosted numerous dinner parties and other social events in her home for friends, lawyers, judges, and Ted’s clients; always a gracious hostess. Her family was the focus of her time and attention. She was passionate about having her family in her home for Thanksgiving Dinner which she prepared.
Survived by husband, Ted, son Michael and Theresa Kessner, Lincoln, daughter Lisa and Edward McGlaston, Denton, Texas; grandsons Matthew and Lindy Kessner, Katy, Texas, their children Cade James, Ella Brooke, and Madi Claire; Collin and Amy Kessner, Woodbury, Minnesota, their children Coralyn Rosa, Ruby Lee, and Lettie Mae; Taylor Kessner, Seattle, Washington, and Andrew McGlaston, Kansas City, Missouri; sister Leola Weers. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Arnold, Vernon, and Milbert and sisters Darline Bergmeier and Sue Gylnn.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 510 South 33rd Street, Lincoln. Interment at Lincoln Memorial Park. A reception will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Roper and Sons South Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr, Lincoln.
