William F. Dayton

William F. Dayton, 80, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on December 18, 2025, in Lincoln. Bill was born on June 2, 1945, in Evanston, Illinois to Helen F. Dayton and William L. Dayton.

Bill is survived by his brother, Allen Dayton of Lincoln, best friend Dawn Peterson, special friends Sandy Shelton, Dave Glatte and Lisa Honnor-and Jaxson – “The Dog”. A special thanks to Mark Hesser, Mindy and the staff at Tabitha who loved and cared for him the past five years. Bill was a special person…”a savant” who spent his life volunteering to over 14 charities in Lincoln. He won the Mayors Award for Volunteer of the Year. He attended Lincoln High School where he made the sophomore football team. He also won election to be a delegate for the 1968 Republican Convention.

Visitation will be 10:00am – 5:00pm, Monday, January 5, 2025 at Roper & Sons, 4300 “O” St., Lincoln, Nebraska. Funeral service will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, January 6, 2025 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 2325 So. 24th St., Lincoln, Nebraska. Burial at Wyuka Cemetery. Memorial may be given to the Tabitha Foundation or St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
