Kathleen Denise Minicz, 64, of Waverly, NE passed away July 19, 2025. Kathy was born in Saunders County Hospital on September 3, 1960 to Carol and Leland Swanson. She graduated from Raymond Central High School in 1979. She held various jobs from working at Russ’s Market, Waverly High School, and then finally settled at Nebraska Wesleyan University where she was a Custodial Supervisor. Kathy was blessed with a caring, generous, and hard-working spirit. She would put others before herself and would give a person the shirt off her back. She loved her grandchildren and did not miss an opportunity to see them, as well as her great nieces and nephews. She moved to Lincoln to where she met the love of her life, her husband Pete Minicz. They were married at Grace Lutheran Church on October 16, 1983 and moved to Waverly to where they raised their children. From their union were born 2 children, 1 son (Jacob Lee Minicz) and 1 daughter (Julianne Fant).
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Carol and Leland Swanson and her husband of 23 years, Pete Minicz (June 3, 2006). Kathy leaves to mourn her son Jacob Minicz, her daughter Julianne Fant, son-in-law Christopher Fant Sr., and her three grandchildren: Aaliyah Fant, Christopher Fant Jr., and Addison Fant. Sisters Lynne Hahn (Greg Hahn) of Lincoln and Amy Stanek (Steve Stanek) of Ceresco. Her nieces; Tracy VonBusch (Mark VonBusch), Maggie Kellogg (Devon Kellogg), Alyssa Zumpfe (Connor Zumpfe). Her nephews: Allen Stanek (Sheila Stanek), Cody Hahn, and Andy Stanek (Aly Stanek). Scriptures that family will remember Kathy by, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us” Romans 8:18.
Kathy will be dearly missed by her children, family, and friends. Though we mourn the life we lost, we are also comforted by the memories we have of Kathy and of the eternal life she now lives in heaven.
There will be a Celebration of Life Visitation 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Metcalf Funeral Home, 245 N. 27th Street, Lincoln, NE.
Private Family Inurnment will take place Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church
