The family moved to Lincoln, NE when Ginger was an infant. She attended Sheridan, Irving, and Lincoln High Schools. At age16 she moved to Wayne, NE where she graduated from Wayne High School.
Ginger graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. While there, she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim Nissen, on July 20, 1952.
Ginger was the spice of our lives. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, fondly known as Gammie. Ginger never met a stranger and she left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Ginger was an avid Nebraska Volleyball fan, rarely missing an opportunity to watch a game. She especially loved spending time with her family, traveling, cruises, and vacationing in the mountains.
Ginger was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was very active serving as Deacon and Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of P.E.O. for over 70 years.
Family members include her husband Jim Nissen; children Rege (Linda) Nissen, Jeff (Sue) Nissen, Joy (Matt) Wimmer, and Tim (Pam) Nissen; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim Hein, daughter-in-law Judy Nissen, and granddaughter Katie Nissen.

Celebration of Life Service: 10:30 am Saturday, April 6, 2024, Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln NE.
Private family inurnment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne, NE at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Westminster Presbyterian Church Foundation, 2110 Sheridan Blvd, Lincoln, NE, or Bryan Foundation, Nissen Scholarship – Bryan Nursing Student, 1600 So. 48th Street, Lincoln, NE.
