Ziggy immigrated to the U.S. after World War II, and settled in Oklahoma City, OK, where she went to high school. She met Pēteris “Pete” Tauriņš and relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska. They married in 1958.
She worked for over 40 years for the Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph company, starting in data processing, and ending in phone construction and repair.
Ziggy was a long-time member of Daugavas Vanagi, a worldwide Latvian welfare organization, where she served as secretary for the Lincoln chapter for many years. She was a devout member of the Lincoln Latvian Church.
In retirement, she enjoyed walking her dogs and caring for plants and flowers.
She is survived by her son, Agris Tauriņš, daughter-in-law Diane (Elliott) Tauriņš, and grandsons, Hunter Tauriņš, and Connor Tauriņš.
A celebration of life will be held at the United Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lincoln, 3302 C St, at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 3rd. Memorials can be directed to the church.
