Shirley Jean Callender

November 12, 1949 - May 5, 2013

Shirley Jean Callender, 76, Lincoln, died Friday (3-29-13). Born (6-24-36) in Kuttawa, Kentucky to Edward Lee and Janie Katherine (Jackson) Scott. Ret. Typist, State of Nebraska Dept. of Roads. After retirement worked for Great Clips. Member: Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post #3. Avid gardener. Shirley loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Never afraid to put on a bathing suit. She was an outstanding wife and mother of five. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, always supportive of her children.

Survived by daughter, Micra Callender, Lees Summit, MO; sons, Jack (Jayne) Callender, Jr., Omaha, Danny Callender, Lincoln, Keith (Michelle) Callender, Denver, CO and Terry (Beth) Callender, Lincoln; grandchildren, Jack Wesley Callender, Justin Callender, Kimberly Callender, Andrew Callender, Michael Callender, Kindel Callender; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Brody Callender, Jaxson Soliman, Blake and Zoey Butt, Christian Tyson, Anna and Mary Chaney; sister-in-law, Kathy Scott, Richland, IN. Preceded in death by parents, husband Jack, brothers Carlton and Thomas Scott.

Funeral Service: 2:00 pm Monday (4-1-13) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ St. Burial in Lincoln Memorial Park.

Memorials to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at www.pancan.org. Visitation: 2-8 pm Sunday with family present from 6-8 pm.
