Shirley Ann Sims, 70, of Lincoln passed away January 5, 2026. Born March 20, 1955, in Omaha, NE to Richard and Katherine (Von Busch) Hegemann.

Shirley was a self-employed daycare provider. A member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. She was an extraordinary seamstress who hand made dolls, christening gowns and quilts.

Family members include her son Brian Sims (Krishelle); grandchildren Gavin Sims, Renna Van Deusen (Rich), Madeline Allen (Kenny), and Abby Bennett (Rowdy); great grandsons Knox and Emerson Allen; Daughter in law, Kimberly Sims (widow of Terry Sims, Jr.); grandsons, Colton, and Caden Sims; sisters, Deb Sabata, Sandy Danek, and June Grummert (Kurt); many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Terry L. Sims, Sr., and son Terry Sims, Jr.

A Rosary will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 9, 2026, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, at Metcalf Funeral Chapel, 245. North 27^th St. Burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation with family present from 6:30-8:00 PM Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Metcalf Funeral Home.

I loved her. My Sister she babysat my godson! Zayne. My friend told me about Shirley’s passing. But I’m nobody just her brother. She also had another sister Barbara Hegemann who passed previously. Her Father Richard passed in 2014.
