Ruby Doris (Peck) Wittmann

Ruby Doris (Peck) Wittmann, 93, of Lincoln, peacefully passed away, Friday, January 26, 2018. She
was born in Kansas City, KS on May 8, 1924 to Sue O. (Mahan) and George D. Peck.

Preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 36 years, Oscar W. Wittmann. She is survived by her brother G. Robert Peck (Mary) of Plymouth, MN and her two daughters Kathryn Brenner (Larry) of Eden Prairie MN and Barbara Schaefer (Ron) of Omaha.

Ruby attended the University of Kansas, worked for Hallmark Cards, and then moved with her family to Fremont, NE. She married Oscar, joining him in farming near Hooper. After their two daughters were born they moved to Fremont and Lincoln. Ruby worked at the University of Nebraska for 39 years, retiring in 1989.

She was well known for her organizational skills and enjoyed working and volunteering at the Lincoln Public Schools Foundation, the Lied Center, and Saint Elizabeth Hospital.

Ruby was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was an enthusiastic supporter of her two daughters, loved to travel and was an avid bridge player to the end. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LPS Foundation for college scholarships.

Funeral will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church – 510 S. 33rd St. on Friday, Feb. 9 at 10:00 with visitation an hour before the service.
