Pete (Marilyn J.) McEntarffer, 81, Lincoln, died Monday (2-13-12). Born (3-27-30) in Grand Island, NE to Milton and Edna (Sands) Peterson.
Raised on a farm between Marquette and Aurora, NE. Attended the Monroe Evangelical Free Church. Went to country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Aurora High School in 1948. Came to Lincoln in 1950. Worked for a short time in a dental office and then as secretary at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. She married John L. McEntarffer at the family farm on September 26, 1952. Pete worked for Lincoln Public Schools for 38 years retiring in August, 2005. During her time at East High School she was inducted into Lincoln East High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996. She was the recipient of the Nebraska Athletic Director Award for Outstanding Service in high school athletics in March 2005.
A member and lay pastor of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Belonged to the United Methodist Women and Friendship Group and Bible 101. Member of LPSAOP (LPS Clerical Association).
Family members include sons, daughter-in-law: Danny McEntarffer, Franklin and Jill McEntarffer, all of Lincoln; grandchildren: Allison and James Piippo, Christopher and Amanda, Benjamin and Michaela, Sarah and Emma McEntarffer; great grandchildren: Hayley and Carson Piippo, Jason Bauer, Jack, Lily, Jacob and Max McEntarffer; sisters, brother-in-law: Marvel Mapes, Waunakee, WI, Bev and Bill Wakely, Lincoln. Preceded in death by parents, daughter-in-law Dawn McEntarffer, brother-in-law Lenny Mapes.
Celebration of Life Service: 6:00 p.m. Thursday (2-16-12) St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd. Rev. John Lacey, officiating. Interment 10:30 a.m. Friday (2-17-12) Fairview Cemetery, 84th & Adams.
