Well, we used to call him “Tree”. I knew Jeff at Lincoln High School, we were both on the track team. We threw shot and discus, but his event was discus. We spent many an hour together at practice, and track meets. Bill Story was our coach. Jeff was awkward at first, he hadn’t developed the strength and coordination he needed to compete at the Varsity level, but, he stuck with it all three years of school and developed into an excellent thrower/athlete. I also enjoyed watching him play for the LHS basketball team. We were close, but after graduation, he went his way, and I mine. Loved his spirit and joy for life.
