Darleen D. Marolf

January 21, 1924 - December 21, 2025

Darleen D. Warner Marolf passed away on December 21, 2025. She was born on January 21, 1924, to Andrew and Ebba (Wedberg) Warner on a farm northwest of Waverly, NE. She attended Garcreek district #33 and graduated from Waverly High School in 1940. She met her true love, Wayne Marolf, in 1936 at the free movies in Waverly and they married on October 10, 1943. Wayne farmed and Darleen was a housewife. Together they raised 3 children, Doug, Julie, and Lana.

Darleen had an active mind and a creative spirit. She loved homemaking, photography, music, cooking, flower arranging, and travel. Her curiosity to see new places was endless and she was able to visit 87 countries and all 7 continents. She shared her travels with many organizations via slide presentations. She was a fabulous cook and entertained in her home frequently.

Darleen loved her family, the Waverly and Bethlehem Church communities, and her very caring neighbors. She was actively involved and found joy in all of these up to her very last days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; her parents; and sister, Della Brinegar. She is survived by her son, Douglas (Diney); daughters, Julie Pokorny (Gale) and Lana Miller (Jim), five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2026, Bethlehem Covenant Church, 18841 N. 98th St., Waverly, NE. A luncheon will follow the service.

Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2026, at Roper and Sons Waverly Chapel, 10851 N. 148th St.
