Alan Eveland

December 6, 1953 - January 16, 2012

Alan (Al) Eveland was born to Paul and Kathryn (Huston) Eveland in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Alan lived in Elmwood until the family moved to a farm near North Bend in 1961.  He was active in 4-H, FFA, Junior Angus, athletics, music, art, and graduated from North Bend Central with distinction in 1972.

Al attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, president of Inter-Fraternity Council, a member of the elite Innocents Society, and was named Outstanding Greek on Campus. He played football as kicker for 4 years and was named all Big 8.

After graduating with honors, he pursued a career in banking and municipal bond underwriting and joined Ameritas in 1996 where he was a Vice President. He provided commercial and investment banking services to clients for more than 28 years. Al served as an assistant chair of the Republican state committee, task forces for both Lancaster County and Lincoln Public Schools relating to facility needs, coached little league football, was a member of Masons and Shrine, and the North Bend Presbyterian Church.

Al was preceded in death by his mother Kathryn Eveland.  He is survived by his father Paul and wife Donna Eveland of Ames, brothers Bruce and Scott Eveland of Ames, sister Kristin( Mike) Caradine of Wichita, KS.  He is also survived by his nieces, Alysa Eveland, Omaha and Brittany Caradine, Wichita and nephews Jeff (Andrea) Eveland, Sioux City and Kendall Eveland, Ames. Step-brothers, J D Dixon (Freda) Laramie, Wyoming, Scott Dixon, Orleans, Step-sisters, Jan (Dave) Cagle of Nashville, TN, and JoDee (Evan) DeVries of Atlanta, GA.

Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Friday (1-20-12) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Rev. Barb Smisek, officiating.

Memorials have been established with United Way and Kay Eveland Memorial Endowment Fund (A Continuing Education Fund for teachers at North Bend Central, Al’s Alma Mater).

Family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service.
