How Roper & Sons Supports Families Beyond the Service

Often, the loss of a loved one is unexpected, leaving you feeling overwhelmed when making funeral arrangements. At Roper & Sons Funeral Home in Lincoln, Nebraska, we believe our role goes far beyond the funeral. We take a thoughtful approach in how we can best support families throughout the planning process so they don’t have to manage every detail in the midst of grief.

Unlike many funeral homes, our behind-the-scenes services, including memorial folders, ordering flowers, and cremation services, are all handled on-site here at Roper & Sons. Families don’t have to coordinate with outside vendors; arrangements can be completed when you meet with one of our experienced funeral directors or our creative director

Benefits of In-house Services

Having in-house services means fewer details for families to manage. For example, memorial materials can be printed by our team, allowing for better communication, quicker turnaround times, and a more personal touch.

It also means your loved one remains in familiar, trusted hands every step of the way, without the need to coordinate care with outside vendors. Families gain peace of mind knowing they’re supported by people who listen, understand, and are fully focused on honoring their loved one with care and respect.

Below are some of the services that Roper & Sons provides that go beyond the funeral itself.

1. Printing of Memorial Materials

Families often choose to provide meaningful keepsakes such as folders, bookmarks, and prayer cards during a funeral or memorial service. These pieces may include a favorite prayer or passage, along with personal details such as date of birth and date of death. By printing these materials in-house, we can accommodate last-minute changes without adding unnecessary stress.

2. Helping with Arrangements at Other Funeral Homes

If your loved one lives in another city or state, coordinating services can feel overwhelming. Even if Roper & Sons is not handling the service directly, we can help you order flowers or make funeral arrangements with another funeral home.

3. On-site Crematory for Continuous Care

If cremation is your loved one’s wish, you can feel confident knowing they are cared for with dignity and respect by our compassionate team throughout the entire process. With our on-site crematory, there is no uncertainty about who is caring for your loved one.

4. Simplified Video Tribute Creation

Creating a video tribute doesn’t have to be complicated. We ease the burden during an emotional time by helping family and friends send photos digitally, no matter where they live. Using a secure shared drive, we ensure that your loved one’s story is honored in a meaningful and thoughtful way.

5. Grief Resources for the Community

Grieving looks different for everyone. Roper & Sons’ grief support groups are free and open to anyone in the community–not just the families we serve. These groups meet monthly, providing a safe and supportive space to share, listen, and heal. We believe no one should have to navigate loss alone.

6. Community Educational Seminars

Giving back to our community is something Roper & Sons has been doing for more than 125 years. Whether it’s offering free seminars on funeral preplanning and estate planning, honoring people who make a difference through Here’s to the Heroes, or creating a safe space during the holidays with Blue Christmas, it’s our way of staying connected and supporting the community that has supported us for generations.
At Roper & Sons, our care doesn’t begin and end with a funeral service. We build relationships–one family at a time–honor and serve you in every way we can.
