Pat was born to Jerry and Shirley Homan on October 3rd, 1961, in Creighton, NE. She was one of 9 children. In 1982, she married her high school sweetheart, Dana Falter. Together they worked hard to build a life for themselves and their families. Life in a big family taught her to be selfless, determined and the value of hard work. As a result, she did anything and everything to build that future.
Pat was always most proud of her family—her children, Chris and Allie, and later her grandchildren, Aubrey, Caraline, Elijah and Grayson. They adored her as much as she adored them and have countless stories to tell. She loved each school play or music performance. Pat, like her mom, loved a good family game of Scrabble, Yahtzee or Banagrams. She always let us cheat a little. And she never missed a good garage sale—especially if it meant time with her grandkids. She jumped at any opportunity to just be near them and she remains their biggest fan.
Pat’s greatest passion was Adventure Golf Center. Her love of gardening made it her personal endeavor to keep the grounds in pristine condition. After owning the course for many years, she continued to maintain the grounds and took great pride in her work. She was a crowd favorite among attenders of the course as well as employees. Her love of gardening translated to the innumerable plants in her home and yard.
Pat was one of those rare and truly selfless people. She met even the smallest requests of her friends and family with tenacity. There was nothing she would not do for even acquaintances and neighbors. She loved to bake and did it well. Her cinnamon rolls remain famous among those who know her. She commonly offered her delicious Amish bread to everyone she crossed. In fact, we suspect that may be the reason that even minor hired maintenance around the house took weeks longer than expected—she fed everyone. Nothing gave her greater joy than finding ways to meet the needs of those around her. It was always her means of loving them best.
In short, she was deeply loved, greatly missed and could never be forgotten. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Dana Falter, their son Chris Falter (Sarah Ongstad) – Aubrey and Caraline, their daughter Allie (Derek) Sprout – Elijah and Grayson; her siblings Karen (Gary) Gottsch of Cambridge, NE, Mark (Terri) Homan of Creighton, NE, Susie Homan of Kensington, MD, Allen (Marianne) Homan of Chantilly, VA, Deborah (Abel) Cerrato of Houston, TX, Anne Crawford of Portland, OR, and sister-in-law Stacy Homan of Creighton, NE, and many grandnieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Shirley Homan, brother Steve Homan, and sister Catherine Homan (Bob Garis).
