In 1978, started work at Mapes Industries in Lincoln, became owner and operator in 1986, and led the company through a long period of growth that continued until his death.
He was a member of the boards of directors of Hampton Enterprises, Assurity, Inc, and Nelnet, Inc.
He served on many community, non-profit, and charitable boards, including the Lincoln Community Foundation, Bryan Hospital, Bryan Heart, Chancellor’s Board of Counselors at UNMC, Junior Achievement, LIBA, Lincoln Economic Recovery Task Force, and Vision 2015, among others.
In his spare time, he was an avid golfer, recording four career holes-in-one. He also enjoyed summers fishing in Lake Vermillion, Minnesota, and in 2018 joined his late father as a Master Angler in the Minnesota Fishing Museum Hall of Fame.
Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marilyn Cintani, of Lincoln.
Other survivors include his four children and their spouses, Brian and Jennifer Cintani, David and Mary Cintani, Michael and Rebecca Cintani, and Laura and Kendall Frantz, all of Lincoln; sisters and brothers-law, Ellen and Mike Armes, Wrightstown, Pa; Karen and Dean Jefferys, Newtown, Pa; brother, James Cintani, Ellwood City, Pa.; five grandchildren, Greyson Frantz, Eleanor Cintani, Kennedy Frantz, Alexander Cintani, and Rachel Cintani, all of Lincoln; longtime friends, Rich Bailey, Lincoln, Dick Doyle, Richboro, Pa., Mitch Huff, Raleigh, N.C., Rick Shaw, Wayne, Pa., and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Susan Slack.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 16, at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 2000 D Street, Lincoln. Reception to follow at Country Club of Lincoln, 3200 South 24th Street, Lincoln.
